THANK YOU to all who gave to JourneyCare on #GivingTuesday 2018! Because of your support, we exceeded our goal of $70,000! We couldn’t have done it without your generosity! You help us make sure that JourneyCare patients and families can focus on what’s important. We are sincerely grateful.

Didn’t get a chance to donate? There is still time to contribute to JourneyCare through our annual appeal at…

Thanksgiving, Black Friday and Cyber Monday have passed. But for JourneyCare patients and families, the most important day in November happens today – Giving Tuesday. On this special day, everyone can make a difference in supporting our nonprofit agency’s mission to provide expert, compassionate care to children and adults living with serious illness.

On Giving Tuesday, The Coleman Foundation is matching online donations of $175 or more to JourneyCare. And what a difference those gifts can make toward helping patients and their families in need …

cathy youtubePediatric patient Sadie McCann came to JourneyCare when she was just a weeks-old infant, after being diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder.

“While her medical needs were tended to by a team that included a doctor, nurses and a social worker, JourneyCare’s All About Kids program also provided experts to care for my daughter’s mind and spirit,” Sadie’s mom, Cathy, says.

“Sadie received music and massage therapy, volunteer support and had a dedicated Child Life Specialist on her team – a professional who helped our family deal with fears and emotions surrounding serious illness through play and self-expression,” Cathy adds. “I wish I could convey to you the full extent to which JourneyCare helped, but its value is impossible to articulate.”

Your gift on Giving Tuesday can help provide the clinical care that helped Sadie, as well as programs like her music and massage therapy that rely completely on donations, since they are not funded by insurance of any kind.

“As caregivers, my sister and I also received an incredible amount of help from JourneyCare. They taught us critical pain management skills for Dad’s home care … and the care team also prepared us for what to do and what to expect as the end came near for my father,” Rita recalls. “JourneyCare helped to relieve our stress – more than we even realized we needed.”

After she was deeply affected by the exceptional care he received at home and, later, at one of JourneyCare’s five inpatient Hospice CareCenters, Melissa and her husband chose to give back by becoming JourneyCare donors.

“JourneyCare was a relief and a gift, and that is why I choose to give back to this special organization,” Melissa says. “They provided us with so much genuine comfort and support. I want to ensure every family can access this critical service for years to come.”

For these three families and all who are touched by serious illness, we hope you will choose to give a gift to JourneyCare on Giving Tuesday; make it count double with The Coleman Foundation’s match to online gifts of $175 or more; and spread the word about how to help all JourneyCare patients and families in need.
