Give the ‘Best of Your Love’ to All About Kids
The Decades Dance on Saturday, April 2, raises funds for JourneyCare’s pediatric programs.

Like the Bee-Gees famously said: You should be dancing! That advice will be especially true on April 2, when JourneyCare hosts our annual Decades Dance that will celebrate the grooviest era of them all, the 1970s.

Of course, you should put on your boogie shoes so you can enjoy a night of music by Libido Funk Circus, cocktails, dinner, auctions and even prizes for the grooviest outfits.

But the most important reason you should head to this boogie wonderland (which will be The Stonegate in Hoffman Estates) is to support JourneyCare’s All About Kids pediatric care program.

All About Kids provides comprehensive, specialized care, focusing on relieving pain and managing symptoms while keeping life as normal as possible for our youngest patients and their families. Each day, this program serves more than 200 children and families in the Chicago area and northern Illinois and nearly half of them struggle financially.

But thanks to the events such as the Decades Dance, these children can receive the critical care and support they need and deserve.

This support includes care teams that are specially trained in pediatrics, as well as hospice and palliative care. They work with each child’s healthcare providers to create an individualized care plan that addresses both the physical and emotional needs. The goal is to care for children in their homes, where they are surrounded by family and familiar comforts.

All About Kids works especially to address the unique needs of children living with serious illness. That’s why social workers, chaplains and volunteers complement the work of the pediatric doctors, nurses, a nurse practitioner and nursing aides to provide whole-family emotional and spiritual support, along with caregiver education.

Each care team also includes child life specialists. These professionals help young patients and their families deal with the emotions, fears, while providing coping strategies and support. Using age-appropriate play and self-expression activities, our child life specialists help patients and siblings to convey their fears, get answers to confusing questions or just keep being children.

Ultimately, All About Kids care teams guide families along their journey and teach what to expect as a child’s illness progresses. And they are with each family every step of the way.

Please support this critical program and enjoy some funky music, too, during the April 2 Decades Dance. Though this event is celebrating the pop culture of the ’70s, guests are still encouraged to dress in vintage clothing that captures the essence of the ’60s, ’70s, ’80s and ’90s. Tickets are $90 each and include dinner, drink tickets and wine service. There will be a costume contest, 50/50 raffle, silent and live auctions and a photo booth.
