As a member of the Volunteer Department, my work centers around coordinating our volunteers and their information. This means maintaining volunteer data and paperwork as well as coordinating activities such as Knit Wits and copy projects.
I came to Midwest CareCenter as a bereavement client. I truly believe our bereavement services saved my sanity. When I was ready to start getting back into the real world and socializing with people, I began volunteering at the reception desk, which eventual led to my current position.
While I was going through counseling, I received literature and information about palliative care. I feel that if my husband and I had been aware of this service, his quality of life would have been improved during the last few years, as would have mine. I feel strongly about helping to educate others about the benefits of our palliative care and hospice services.
Being with Midwest CareCenter first as a volunteer and now as a staff member has been an enriching experience. The environment is supportive and positive. Our staff and volunteers are committed to providing the best possible care. It's an honor to work with our wonderful volunteers each day.
